Sachini Nisansala, the 22-year-old left-arm spinning allrounder, has been recalled to the Sri Lankan squad for the three-match home One-Day International series against West Indies, set to be played from June 15-21 in Hambantota. She is the only inclusion in the 16-player squad announced on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka have left out the veteran ‘keeper-batter Prasadani Weerakkody from the squad that featured in the tour of South Africa. Weerakkody featured in only one ODI in that series, scoring four runs in Potchefstroom. Nisansala has played only one ODI, against Pakistan in Karachi last year where she was dismissed for a duck and returned figures of 0 for 24 from her four-over spell.

Squad: Chamari Athapaththu, Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hasini Perera, Nilakshi De Silva, Kavisha Dilhari, Hansima Karunaratne, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Inoshi Fernando, Inoka Ranaweera, Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, Sugandika Kumari, Anushka Sanjeewani, Kawya Kavindi, Sachini Nisansala

With only five wins in 18 games of the ICC ODI Championship 2022-25 so far, Sri Lanka are placed eighth on the table. Their next opponents, West Indies, aren’t much better – having won only six out of their 15 matches in the cycle, placed seventh currently.
