India pacer Shardul Thakur has undergone a foot surgery, he revealed on his social media handle on Wednesday (June 12). Thakur posted a picture with his right leg in a cast after the surgery was completed.
It is understood that he had the surgery done in London after Thakur played through the IPL with the help of injections to manage his painful ankle.
Thakur’s surgery was done by the same physician who had operated on Mohammed Shami earlier. Thakur is a centrally contracted BCCI player meaning all the expenses incurred for the same would be taken care by the board.
The pacer is not a part of the current Indian squad but featured in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings. The Indian domestic season is set to begin in three months time which could be the path for his return to cricket.
Thakur had previously undergone a surgery in 2019. He last represented India in a Test match in South Africa at the end of last year. His recovery time from this surgery is expected to be about eight weeks.
