Kavisha Dilhari (4-20) and Vishmi Gunaratne (50) registered career-best efforts as Sri Lanka cruised to a comfortable five-wicket win at the Galle International Stadium, and secured a 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
Electing to bat, West Indies were bundled out for 92. Hayley Matthews was unavailable for the contest, and in her absence, none of the batters barring Rashada Williams (24) could register a respectable score, with seven of them failing to go past single-digit scores. Achini Kulasuriya and Chamari Athapaththu also chipped in with a brace each.
In response, Aaliyah Alleyne and Shamila Cornell struck early. However, a 58-run stand between Dilhari and Gunaratne all but ended West Indies’ hopes of making it a stiff chase for the hosts. Karishma Ramharack struck twice in quick succession but couldn’t prevent Sri Lanka from cruising to an easy win.
Brief Scores: West Indies 92 in 31 overs (Rashada Williams 24; Kavisha Dilhari 4-20, Chamari Athapaththu 2-8) lost to Sri Lanka 93/5 in 21.2 overs (Vishmi Gunaratne 50, Kavisha Dilhari 28; Karishma Ramharack 2-29) by 5 wickets
