Led by Sachini Nisansala’s maiden ODI fifer, Sri Lanka registered an emphatic 160-run win over West Indies in Galle to complete a 3-0 whitewash. With this win, Sri Lanka have moved to the fourth spot on the ODI championship table.

Put in to bat, Sri Lanka put up a commanding 275 for 6, riding on the back of half-centuries by Chamari Athapaththu (91), Nilakshi De Silva (63) and Anushka Sanjeewani 55). A 93-run opening stand between Athapaththu and Vishmi Gunaratne, followed by a 117-run partnership between Sanjeewani and De Silva laid the platform for the highest total of the series.

In the absence of Hayley Matthews, West Indies batting failed again. Barring Chedean Nation, who stroked seven boundaries en route her 57-ball 46, there weren’t any noteworthy contributions.

Nisansala, the 22-year-old left-arm spinner, was playing only her third ODI having returned in this series after a gap of two years. She finished with figures of 5 for 28, with six batters departing for single-digit scores, as West Indies bundled out for 115.

Brief scores: Sri Lanka 275/6 in 50 overs (Chamari Athapaththu 91, Nilakshi De Silva 63; Karishma Ramharack 2-46) beat West Indies 115 in 34.5 overs (Chedean Nation 46, Aaliyah Alleyne 27; Sachini Nisansala 5-28) by 160 runs.
