Bangladesh Cricket Board said on Friday that they are yet to take a final call regarding the white-ball series against Afghanistan in July.
BCB had earlier announced that their all-format away series against Afghanistan in July has been rescheduled.
Afghanistan Cricket Board was expected to host Bangladesh for two Tests along with three ODIs and three T20Is following the ICC T20 World Cup.
Later, the ACB prepared a new itinerary for BCB and according to that draft itinerary seen by Cricbuzz, three ODI’s and as many T20Is are scheduled to be played in Greater Noida between July 25 and August 6.
It is understood both boards are discussing to play the two Tests in 2025 as Bangladesh already have a very busy red-ball schedule in 2024.
After the T20 World Cup, they will travel to Pakistan to play a two-match Test series following which will be the tour of India to play a series comprising two Tests along with three T20Is.
In October, Bangladesh will host South Africa for a two-match Test series while in November-December, they will travel to West Indies to play two Tests along with three ODIs and three T20Is.
However, in July there is a slot to play the three ODIs and three T20Is against Afghanistan but according to sources a final call in this regard will be taken after sitting with the team management as the board is not interested to drain their cricketers with excessive cricket.
“Basically this was in discussion (playing three ODIs and three T20I against Afghanistan in Noida in July) but yet to take any final decision,” BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told Cricbuzz on Friday.
“The series was earlier penciled in FTP but we are yet to finalize anything in this regard (as far as playing them in July is concerned),” he added.
BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus echoed the same sentiment when contacted by Cricbuzz.
“We are yet to confirm the series (in July). The weather is not conducive (to play cricket during that of time),” said Jalal.
According to the schedule, Bangladesh are scheduled to arrive in Noida on July 22 to play the three ODIs, scheduled respectively on July 25, 27 and 30. Following the ODIS, the three T20Is were slated respectively on August 2,4 and 6.
