In what comes as a disappointment for Nitish Reddy, the middle-order batter has been ruled out of the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe and will have to wait for his first taste of international cricket. While the nature of the injury was not revealed, the BCCI stated that its medical team is monitoring the 21-year old’s progress.

Allrounder Shivam Dube has been named Nitish’s replacement for the Zimbabwe series. Dube is currently part of the India squad in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 and has played all games for the side so far. The 31-year old middle order batter has made important contributions in the games against Australia, Bangladesh and the USA.

India’s T20I squad for the Zimbabwe series, which is led by Shubman Gill, now has three players from the T20 World Cup squad with the inclusion of Dube, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson being the other two. Gill was among the reserves for the T20 World Cup, along with Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan, who are all part of the squad for the Zimbabwe series.

The five-match series will be played on July 6, 7, 10, 13 and 14, with the Harare Sports Club hosting all games.
